MUNICH ELECTRIFICATION POWERS ELECTRIC TRUCKS WITH ADVANCED BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Munich, 13.09.2024 - Munich Electrification, a leader in innovative battery management technology, is proud to announce the delivery of Battery Management Systems (BMS) for eActros 300/400, created for our client Daimler Truck AG. This collaboration demonstrates the success of a partnership on the path to an electrification strategy for sustainable transportation.

The shift to eMobility is set to revolutionize the entire industry, offering reduced emissions, lower operating costs, and quiet, comfortable driving experiences. Battery-electric trucks represent the future of transportation as the demand for sustainable transport solutions rapidly increases. Our advanced BMS technology ensures that transport operations maintain highest availability thanks to their exceptional energy efficiency.

Innovative Battery Management Systems

Munich Electrification's cutting-edge BMS technology will empower our customers to enhance sustainability in delivery services. The system integrates a powerful and reliable Battery Management Unit (BMU) and state-of-the-art Cell Monitoring Board (CMB). We are proud to support one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in executing their electrification strategy with our fully in-house developed Bologna BMS platform. This platform features a flexible software architecture that allows quick adaptation to various battery pack architectures and vehicle interfaces.

ISO26262 Certification and Versatility

The Bologna Battery Management Unit is developed and certified as a safety component out of context according to ISO26262 standards. The BMS satisfies safety requirements of today’s and tomorrow’s electrified automotive world and operates up to a voltage of 950 V.

Advanced Functionality and Customization

The Bologna Battery Management Unit offers advanced functionality with main and peripheral coordination logic at the pack level, enabling the configuration of up to eight contactors and eight high-voltage measurement inputs. This flexibility ensures adaptability to various system requirements. Additionally, our custom CMB technology, which operates without oil immersion, can be utilized up to 950 volts and is ideal for fully electric trucks. Our highly innovative cell measurement technology ensures optimum safety and accuracy with a wide range of available products for a  different amount of voltage measurement channels.

Comprehensive Software Expertise

From embedded software development to model-based functions and advanced high-level algorithms for various cell chemistries, our software stack is fully compliant with the latest safety and added security requirements for modern automotive applications. We adhere to the most modern software development principles while meeting automotive safety engineering processes. Our development process, from requirements definition to software implementation, testing, and documentation, is fully automated, allowing us to implement changes rapidly and meet customer specifications with the highest quality standards.

A Bright Future Ahead

"We are incredibly happy and proud of this successful cooperation and look forward to further exciting projects in the future," said Dr. Uwe Wiedemann, Managing Director of Munich Electrification.
