MUNICH ELECTRIFICATION APPOINTS DR. CHRISTIAN SORG AS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Munich, September 25, 2024 - Munich Electrification, a fast-growing leader in the automotive battery electronics sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Sorg as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective September 2024. Christian joins Munich Electrification with a distinguished career in the automotive industry, bringing with him a wealth of experience in production engineering, quality and procurement of powertrain components and electric vehicle electronics.
In his new role, Christian will oversee the operational strategy of Munich Electrification, guiding the company’s growth as it continues to innovate in battery electronics for electric vehicles (EV). With a strong engineering and operations background, Christian is uniquely positioned to lead the company's efforts in producing and delivering world-class electronics and electro-mechanical components and systems, driving excellence in performance, quality and sustainability for its clients across Europe and the U.S.

Christian Sorg’s Career Highlights
Christian has held various leadership roles at BMW Group, most recently serving as General Manager of Purchasing and Industrialization for e-axles, where he was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive innovation and quality across BMW’s electric powertrain systems. He has also served as General Manager of Supplier Quality Management for several commodities such as electric motors, engines, and transmissions, gaining deep experience in ensuring excellence in production and supplier relationships. Additionally, Christian contributed to the groundbreaking work on BMW’s carbon composite production for their 7-series and i-series models.
Apart from his tenure at BMW, Christian is also a member of the Board of Advisors at 8inks, a battery manufacturing platform focused on mass production of next-generation designs and materials.
Christian’s academic background includes a Ph.D. at Technische Universität München, where he conducted research in cutting-edge automotive technologies. His diverse experience across electric and combustion engines, combined with his leadership in quality and production management, aligns perfectly with Munich Electrification’s mission to drive the future of electric mobility.
